Safety, Use and Liability

Cable Runner™ products are intended solely as cable support and cable dispensing accessories. They are designed to assist in the controlled handling of cable reels and similar spooled materials when fitted correctly to a suitable ladder spreader arrangement or other expressly intended support structure.

By purchasing, installing or using this product, the user accepts responsibility for ensuring that it is fitted, used and maintained safely, correctly and only for its intended purpose.

Important safety notice

Cable Runner™ must not be used as a substitute for safe working practice.

A ladder with Cable Runner™ installed is to be treated as a cable dispensing setup only. The ladder must not be climbed, stood on, worked from, moved with a load attached, or otherwise used as an access platform while the Cable Runner™ system, spindle, conduit bar, reel, drum or any supported material is installed.

The product is intended for use only when the ladder is stationary, stable, properly opened, positioned on suitable ground, and being used exclusively as a support frame for cable dispensing.

User responsibilities

The user must ensure, before and during every use, that:

• the product is compatible with the ladder or support arrangement being used;
• the brackets are fully and securely fitted;
• any fixing screw, fastener, locking feature, spindle retention device, washer, R-clip, collar, stop or similar restraint is correctly installed where applicable;
• the ladder is fully opened and stable;
• the ground surface is level, firm and suitable;
• the reel, drum or spool is of an appropriate size and weight for the setup;
• the load is monitored throughout use;
• the spindle or conduit bar cannot drift, dislodge or become unsafe in operation;
• the setup is not left unattended in an unsafe condition; and
• the product is inspected before use for damage, distortion, cracking, wear or looseness.

The user is solely responsible for determining whether the ladder, reel, spindle, fixings and surrounding work environment are safe and suitable for use.

Prohibited uses

Cable Runner™ must not be used:

• while any person is on the ladder;
• as a fall protection device;
• as a load-bearing access aid;
• with damaged, unstable or defective ladders;
• with excessive reel weights or improperly balanced loads;
• without appropriate spindle retention or fixing arrangements where required;
• in any manner contrary to normal site safety practice, applicable regulations, or manufacturer guidance for the ladder being used.

No replacement for ladder manufacturer instructions

Cable Runner™ is an accessory product and does not alter, replace or override the original ladder manufacturer’s instructions, warnings, duty ratings or load limits.

All ladder manufacturer instructions and safety rules must continue to be followed at all times.

Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ladder Cable Runner, Cable Runner UK, and their owners, suppliers and distributors shall not be liable for any loss, damage, injury, cost or claim arising from:

• misuse of the product;
• installation contrary to instructions;
• use with unsuitable ladders, reels, bars or materials;
• failure to inspect the setup before or during use;
• modification of the product;
• overloading;
• climbing or working from a ladder while the product is installed; or
• any use outside the product’s intended purpose.

Nothing in this notice excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability which cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable law.

Product development and continuous improvement

Product specifications, design details and recommended use guidance may be updated from time to time as the product develops. Users should ensure they are using the latest fitting and safety guidance supplied with the product.
